Russel R. Nettle, 94 of Manchester, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010. Russel was born in Coventry Twp., was a life resident of the area and a veteran of the Navy in World War II. He was a retired toolmaker from McNeil Machine Co. and was a longtime member of the Manchester United Methodist Church, where he was the pianist and his wife Bernece was the organist. His music was enjoyed by the Church for the more than 50 years he served as pianist. Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Bernece in 2000, he is survived by his son, Larry (Denise) Nettle; daughter, Cindy (Lloyd Bouk) Smith; grandchildren, Eric (Carissa) Nettle, Jason Nettle, Josh (Tori) Smith and Zachary Smith; great-grandchildren, Tatum Nettle and Maddie Smith; his brother and his best friend, Bob (Dororthy) Nettle; sister, Gladys Bell; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend, Glenn Willis. The family wishes to offer a special thanks to Dr. James Brown, and the staffs of Barberton Hospice and Pleasant View Nursing Home for their kind and loving care. Funeral service FRIDAY, 11 a.m. at the Manchester United Methodist Church, 5625 Manchester Road, Akron, OH 44319, with Rev. Dale Gharky offficiating. Burial at Manchester Cemetery.
