John Anthony Boron

John A. Boron, Sr., 77 of Canal Fulton died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at his home.  John proudly served as a radio operator on the admiral's staff aboard the carrier, USS Bairoko, during the Korean War.  He was there for the March 1, 1954 H-Bomb test in the western Pacific Proving Grounds. John retired in 1994 as an inspector from the Babcock & Wilcox Co. in Barberton, with 44 years service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus council # 4028 in Barberton for 50 years, until it’s closing in August 2009. He served as past Grand Knight and was the current recorder. John was an active member of SS Philip & James Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, collection counter and years ago, as a bingo worker.  Preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Mary (Yasinski); brother, Joe in 2007; and sister, Anna in 1923.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Royce (Hayes); son, John, Jr.; daughter, Patricia (Mark) McFarland; grandchildren, Chelsea Althouse, Brian Althouse and Cade McFarland.  Mass of the Christian Burial WEDNESDAY 11:00 a.m. at SS Philip & James Catholic Church with Fr. John Warner officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 5 to 8 p.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rt.93, Canal Fulton). Cremation will follow the funeral mass, with inurnment, with military honors, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Friday 1:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations in John's memory to either SS Philip & James Church, 412 N. High St., Canal Fulton, OH 44614; or Mercy Medical Center Hospice, 7568 Whipple Ave. NW, North Canton, OH 44720.
