Dorothy Kay Reynolds

CLINTON -- Dorothy Kay Reynolds (nee Wozniak), 74, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at VNS Hospice Care Center on Ridgewood Road with her husband, Gilbert by her side.  Dorothy was born May 12, 1937 in Akron, Ohio to the late Stephen and Mary Wozniak. She graduated from St. Sebastian Grade School in Akron, and also from St. Vincent High School, Akron. Dorothy went on to graduate from Marygrove College, Detroit, Michigan, receiving a degree in Speech and Hearing Therapy. After graduation she taught Speech Therapy in various school districts and later tutored at home. Dorothy was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. After retiring she remained a homemaker.  Dorothy was preceded in death her parents and also her sister, Mary T. Herman. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gilbert; son, Stephen R. of Austin, Texas; sisters and brothers, Mary Jean (William) Hinkle of Macedonia, Ohio, Marjorie (Thomas) Burkley of Akron, Ohio, Ellen (John) Shacklett of Etowah, North Carolina, Tom (Jeanne Pepper) Herman of Flint, Mich., Terry (Peter) Sissons of Orwell, England, Dick (Maureen) Herman of Reynosa, Mexico, Jack (Mimi) Herman and Larry Herman all of Stow, Ohio, Bernadette Herman of Dearfield, Ill., Bob Herman of Detroit, Mich., Catherine Fredericks of Scranton, Pa., (Dorothy's godchild), Dorothy H. Papp of Stonington, Conn.; she also has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Dorothy was known for her spontaneous humor, coupled with a kind and loving nature and caring for others; she loved to send greeting cards to those she cared about. Dorothy put a high priority on family and enjoyed all celebrations.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth St., N.W. Barberton 44203, with Fr. Gordon Yahner, Celebrant, followed by cremation. Private inurnment will take place at the convenience of the family on another day at Holy Cross Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
